Engagement ring or wedding ring
Engagement ring or wedding ring: what is the difference?
There are various wedding traditions in our country. For example, two types of rings are usually given: an engagement ring and a wedding ring. But what is the difference?
The engagement ring
An engagement ring is part of the marriage proposal. One partner gives this ring to the other, along with the question of marriage. This ring therefore represents the promise to marry. When, that is not yet certain at that moment. An engagement ring is therefore worn before the wedding.
An engagement ring often has a single gemstone, usually a diamond. It is slightly larger and more striking than ordinary rings.
The wedding ring
Wedding rings are exchanged during the wedding ceremony. They symbolise the commitment you are making to each other. That is also why the wedding rings of both partners usually have a similar design.
A wedding ring often has a simpler design than an engagement ring.
