Lost your wedding ring? What to do now?

What do you do if you lose your wedding ring?

Losing a wedding ring is an emotional blow. It holds many memories. In addition, there is the financial value. But do not panic, because there is a good chance that you will find your lost wedding ring. Here are a few things you can do:

Retrace your steps

First, go over the steps of that day. Where did you go? What did you do? It could well be that you took off your wedding ring at the swimming pool and it is still in the changing room. Or it slipped off your finger during a walk in the woods. If necessary, ask friends or family members to help you look for it.

Check local Facebook groups

Nowadays, there are all kinds of Facebook groups such as “You're from Antwerp if...”. These are full of posts about news, events and more. Lost property is also regularly posted here. With a bit of luck, someone will find your lost ring and post a message in this group.

Lost your wedding ring on the beach?

Surprisingly, many married men and women lose their wedding rings on the beach. The loose sand makes it difficult to find them. The solution: call on someone with a metal detector. Many people do this as a hobby.

Wedding ring stolen?

Do you suspect that someone has stolen your wedding ring? Then you should report this theft to the police. You can do this at the police station, via the online police desk or during an on-site intervention (in the case of a burglary).

Insuring your wedding ring

A wedding ring is precious. Not only from a financial point of view, but also emotionally. That is why it is a good idea to insure your wedding ring.

Jewellery and other luxury goods are often covered by home contents insurance. However, it is worth taking out additional “valuables insurance”. This means that loss outside the home is also covered. You are then insured worldwide against damage, theft and loss.

Plan B: buy a new ring

After all that searching, have you still not managed to find your lost wedding ring? Then it's time for a new one. Take a look at our collection. You are also always welcome to visit our shop in Antwerp.
